What do you see when you think of protest? People – one hand holding a sign and the other raised as a fist in the air? Or perhaps hands holding each other to form a chain, expressing their solidarity?

The traveling exhibition accompanying the “Dictionary of Resistance” makes different forms of protest visible.

From hunger strike to candlelight vigil, from dancing feminists to striking students, to migrant struggles for human rights. From A for Endurance to Z for Witnessing – protest takes many forms.

This and other moments of resistance are showcased in the exhibition by the Association of Binational Families and Partnerships ifa e.V. from Leipzig, based on their “Dictionary of Resistance” and its accompanying traveling exhibition, which is now guest-hosting in the museum foyer for three months. It is aimed at fellow activists and interested parties, fans of artistic illustrations, and future power critics.

Accompanying the traveling exhibition, historian Patrice Poutrus will come to the museum to speak and discuss resistance moments of Black people in the GDR and migrant communities in East Germany.
