“Join in!” invites young and old alike to play in the Museum Utopie und Alltag. Because playing is fun: it opens up new worlds and sparks our imagination. Through play, we get to know one another and learn to negotiate rules.

To mark her 80th birthday, this exhibition celebrates the long-standing work of designer Ursula Wünsch. It offers insights into the career of a freelance designer in the GDR whose play objects continue to delight people
to this day.

Ursula Wünsch studies from 1966 to 1970 at the Hochschule für industrielle Formgestaltung Halle-Burg Giebichenstein. Since 1973, children still enjoy her climbing houses in many playgrounds. She develops her interactive murals, ball games, and tile-matching games—made of wood and in vibrant colors—in collaboration
with children and people with special needs. She also becomes known as the host of the GDR television series “Wie wär’s? (Open in new tab)” To this day, her mural “Peace for Everything That Lives on This Earth!” (Open in new tab)can be seen on the Berlin Wall.

At the end of the exhibition, people from diverse walks of life and artist Kathrin Ollroge (Open in new tab) invite you to the “Open House.” Inspired by Ursula Wünsch’s work, this inspires to explore the question: What rules do we need today to live well together today?
